First, the fun stuff:
I love to laugh. It gets me breathing deeply and feeling light. The laughing-so-hard-that-I'm-crying-and-can't-speak doesn't happen very often, but when it does I'm usually with my brother.
I'm most at home outside. I need the grounding of the Earth under my feet and the sky above me every day. Throw in a swim in the ocean most days in summer, and I'm one happy camper.
I'm a highly sensitive person, an empath and an introvert. I used to hate these things about me, but I now see them as my superpowers. I'm on a mission to get you feeling like that, too.
I come from a long line of healers. My mom's a nurse (and one of the nicest people I've ever known). My great-grandmother, Flora, healed with cooking, sewing and was known to wrap a towel around her head and tell fortunes.
I love all animals, live music, guacamole and lavender essential oil.
I'm a self-taught artist. There's no form of art or art materials that I haven't found utterly delightful to play with. This is one of my healing balms.
I have dreams that feel like downloads of information. Once when I was in college, I dreamed that my electric typewriter was fixed (I'm dating myself here). I had a paper due the next day and, when I went to bed, it was broken. I woke and, sure enough, it was working.
I took my first yoga class more than 20 years ago, and it was the first time I'd ever felt at home in my body. I've been practicing ever since.
I love flower essences. They're a huge part of my healing work. I make them too! Click here.
I love learning.
I've studied the brain and how it codes information, creates memory networks, and makes meaning. I've studied and practiced Vipassana meditation for 20 years; Shamanism and journeying; art therapy; Tarot Card reading; aromatherapy; and whole foods/organic diet. I've studied languages, physics, social change and justice, philosophy and religions. I've been honored to study with well-known teachers, as well as the ones who quietly change the world one student at a time.
I was born and raised east of New York City to a big family. These days, I live alongside the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey with my husband, therapy dog Ria, and 2 cats named Sam and Francis aka Mr. Wonderful.
Lastly, my credentials:
Undergraduate degree in English and graduate degree in Social Work, both from the State University of New York.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in both New Jersey and New York.
Certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) since 2006.
Kripalu Yoga Teacher, 200-hour level since 2000.
Bach Flower Essences, Level 1 Certification.
Akashic Records, Levels 1 and 2.
Expertise in PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) across the lifespan, as a result of childhood physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect; accidents of all kinds and sudden traumatic loss.
